Most people who come to us have lost weight before. That is the problem. Diets work until your body adjusts, and then they stop. Medical weight loss at our Hammond clinic starts with finding out what is actually going on: your history, your medications, your labs and how your weight has moved over the years. From there we build a plan. It may include medication and it may not. Either way you get a physician, real monitoring, and follow-up that works around shifts and commutes.

Weight loss is a medical problem, not a willpower problem

When you lose weight, your body defends the weight it lost. Hunger hormones rise, energy use falls, and the same effort stops producing the same result. That is physiology rather than a character flaw.

Medical weight management works with that instead of pretending it is not happening.

Who medical weight management is for?

Adults whose weight is affecting their health. People who have lost weight and regained it. People with metabolic risk factors such as prediabetes or high blood pressure. People taking medications that make weight harder to manage.

If you have tried repeatedly and it has not held, that is a reason to be evaluated rather than a reason to try harder.

Your first visit at our Hammond clinic

We take a full history, look at how your weight has moved over time, and review every medication and supplement you take, because some of them matter more than people expect.

We check vitals, measure body composition where available, and order labs. We talk about how you actually eat and move now, not how you would like to. You leave with a plan and a follow-up booked.

What a plan usually includes

Nutrition you can keep up with, resistance training, attention to sleep and stress, and medication where it is medically appropriate.

Medication is one part of a plan, not the plan. People who only take the drug tend to lose muscle along with fat and regain more when they stop.

Keeping muscle while losing weight

Eat enough protein, train against resistance two or three times a week, and do not lose faster than your body can adapt to.

We track body composition where we can, because two people who lose the same amount of weight can end up in very different condition.

Maintaining weight loss after you reach your goal

Maintenance is a different phase with different rules. We keep seeing you, reassess medication, and treat a few pounds coming back as information rather than failure.

Catching a regain at five pounds is much easier than catching it at thirty.

Why Prestige 2.0 in Hammond

A physician evaluates you, orders real labs and follows you afterwards. The clinic is on Calumet Avenue, so you are not driving out of the area for a fifteen minute check-in.

Once your plan is stable, many follow-ups can be done by telemedicine, which matters if you work shifts or commute into Chicago.

Weight Loss FAQs

How is this different from a commercial diet program?

A physician evaluates you, orders lab work and can treat what the labs find. A commercial program sells you a plan. If a thyroid problem or a medication is part of why your weight has not moved, only one of those can do anything about it.

Do I have to take medication to be a patient here?

No. Plenty of our weight loss patients are not on medication. It is one option among several and it gets discussed, not assumed.

What happens at the first appointment?

History, weight over time, a full medication review, vitals, body composition where available, lab orders, and a conversation about food and movement. You leave with a plan and a follow-up date.

Is bloodwork required?

Usually. It tells us whether something else is contributing and gives a baseline to compare against later.

How often are follow-up visits?

Closer together at the start, further apart once you are steady. Many can be done by telemedicine after your first in-person visit.

Can I lose weight without losing muscle?

You will lose some, but you can limit it with enough protein, resistance training and a reasonable pace. We monitor body composition rather than the scale alone.

What happens once I reach my goal weight?

You move into maintenance, which we treat as its own phase. Visits continue, medication is reassessed, and small regains get addressed early.

Do you offer telemedicine follow-ups?

Yes, once you have been seen in person and your plan is stable. Some visits still need to be in the clinic and we will tell you which.

Do you see patients from Munster, Highland and Whiting?

Yes. Calumet Avenue is US-41 and runs straight through Munster and Highland, so the drive is short for most patients.
